Well, where do we begin?

The year was 2005... People in need of Website design and related services were desperate for a simple, elegant, well-organized directory of Website designers in certain geographic areas or within a particular specialty field. Meanwhile, across the vast expanse of the Internet, Website design companies were just aching to make contact with these people. Designers reached out across miles of fiber, frantically grasping at entrepreneurs, executives, bloggers, and others who would never see their interest. It was a story of unrequited love - and we can't stand to see love unrequited. So we, being the romantics we are, decided to do something about it!

We focused on the two key players: Advertisers (Web design companies) and Customers (consumers looking for Web design companies). We wanted to know what each group wanted, what they craved, what they couldn't do without - and what they could do without. We spent quite a bit of time (and money - ouch!) putting together extremely fancy surveys designed to give us objective, relevant and actionable information we could use to put together the best Website designers directory on the planet.

We sent out and received back two rounds of questionnaires about exactly what each group would like to find in a Website such as this one. The feedback we received was quite interesting and provided a great fountain of "how to build it" information. While some of the more clever companies were eager to respond with exactly where on our bodies we should insert their response to the survey (karma, man, karma!), most companies managed to provide honest, serious and priceless guidance and feedback (thanks, you rock!).

We reviewed pages upon pages of requests, suggestions, concerns, optimization tips (more SEO tips than anyone could ever want to read), pricing preferences, and of course complaints about other such Websites that aren't doing much for your money (if you're reading this, you know who you are!). We then went to work on putting together the most comprehensive Web design firms resource in the universe! All based off of suggestions we received from YOU (well, some of you, but you know what we mean!). So here it is!!

Of course, we didn't just sit around and "hope" that you'd like it. We've spent the past few months after production asking you how much you like it! We then did another comprehensive study with two rounds of focus groups to get feedback on beta versions of Website Designers List. Remember all of those things you told us to fix?
